Changing the Way You Commute.

Wheels Carpool

Story

Although the UAE has an advanced infrastructure system and has been extending its road network expansively, traffic congestion is still a common problem.

The Transport Research Laboratory has estimated that the annual loss in time and fuel due to traffic congestion in the UAE is 4.6 billion dirhams. Traffic congestion occurs for the most part because cars and taxis are being used by one person only.

Moreover, citizens, who do not own a car, are forced to take expensive taxis, Ubers or Careems due to a lack of public transport options. The high costs of mobility is a huge financial burden for individuals without cars

All these problems birthed the idea of Wheels, a ride-sharing mobile app.

Solution

Wheels aims to make the car use and traffic flow more efficient by encouraging ride sharing. Wheels is a platform where users, first of all, can easily compare prices of different ride-hailing services and, secondly, share taxi, Uber and Careem rides.

Therefore, Wheels enables users to save money, time and the environment.

  • A User friendly platform where users can compare the prices of different ride-hailing services

  • The App’s ride hailing mechanism allows users to save between 50-70% per each ride

  • Combine rides with shared routes and destinations to reduce harmful emissions by 60%

Features

  • We successfully deployed a backend Analytics Portal to keep track of users, rides and other important information

  • With the in-built Calendar, you can enter your desired dates to pick rental cars as per your availability

  • Get access to wallet, trip history and other information in this section

  • We also worked on integrating Wheel’s API with Careem

In addition to receiving funding from the Dubai Government through the Expo 2020 Innovation program, Wheels has also secured partnerships with leading organizations in the region. One such partnership is with Start AD, a startup accelerator program based in Abu Dhabi that provides mentorship, resources, and funding to early-stage startups. Through this partnership, Wheels has been able to further develop its technology and expand its user base.

Wheels has also been featured in prominent media outlets, including Gazelle and Gulf News. These features have helped to raise awareness about the app and its mission to make car use and traffic flow more efficient through ride-sharing.
