What is Flutter Vikings?

FlutterVikings is a community-driven program consisting of Google Developer Groups and other Nordic user groups that specialize in Flutter and Dart, as well as members of the Flutter community from all over the globe.

When is Flutter Vikings 2022 taking place?

The dates of the conference are August 31 - September 1, 2022.

Where is Flutter Vikings 2022 taking place?

This year’s Vikings will take place in Felix Conference Center in Oslo, Norway. The February 2022 event was totally online due to the pandemic, but this conference will be a hybrid event.

Can I attend the conference virtually?

Yes, you can attend the conference virtually, for free!

Where do I register for the event?

I am not a Flutter developer nor do I have experience with coding. Can I still attend the Vikings?

Yes, you can! Vikings is very inclusive and welcomes everyone regardless of their background. If you are an individual with no prior experience in coding, this would be a great chance for you to learn from the best!

What happens at the Vikings?

Vikings features a prominent speaker list consisting of famed international speakers, Google Developer Experts, and Software Engineers. The FlutterVikings Conference boasts two of the best Flutter and Dart tracks anywhere, offering some of the most informative, technical, and actually useful talks anywhere.

Who will be speaking at the Vikings 2022?

Vikings 2022 will feature talks from Google Developer Experts, Microsoft and Google engineers, and prominent names in the Flutter community. A few names include Andrei Tudor, part of the Microsoft Surface duo team that provided foldable phone support announced at this year’s Google I/O.

Others gracing the event include Eric Windmill, who is a Developer Relations Engineer at Google on the Flutter team, focused on using Firebase. Eric has also authored ‘Flutter in Action.’ He has been working with Flutter since it was in its Alpha Stage.

Filip Hráček Filip, an avid programmer, is currently developing games in Flutter. One of his game releases was named the “Best of 2021” by Android Authority, TouchArcade, and Google Play. Filip also delivers online courses on Udemy.

Pooja Bhaumik, who is the co-founder of the WomenDroid community, mentors people, and helps them excel in their professional careers, would be gracing the event as well.

What’s the event agenda?

The event, sponsored by numerous prominent companies, would start at 8 am CEST time and the first talk on ‘Deep dive into Flutter theming’ would be delivered by Mike Rydrstrom, an avid Flutter developer and creator of the FlexColorScheme package, which is used to make beautiful and colorful Flutter themes.

Other topics that would be covered on Day 1 include Fun with Code Generation, Lifecycle of a widget, Snapchat Filters with Flutter, Structure your GraphQL apps, and Riverpod 2.0.

Day 2 would commence with Tim Sneath’s talk on ‘Windows development with Dart and Win32.’ This would be a good chance for you to learn how Dart and Flutter apps can access Windows API so that you can create beautiful Windows experiences.

Justin Mccandless would deliver a talk on building a desktop drawing app, followed by talks on Building Flutter apps in Lego Style, Another world in Flutter, and lastly Game development in Flutter. In the end, there would be an hour of Q/A, an opportunity for you to ask any questions from the experts.

Should I attend Vikings 2022?

The short answer is Yes! Whether you’re a senior Flutter developer, an aspiring programmer, or even a startup, you would learn a lot from the experiences, insights, and visions that all these prominent speakers would be sharing.
